When I was first started taking piano lessons, it was from the nuns in Catholic school. They used flash cards and a cardboard keyboard. It was months before I ever touched the actual piano keys.
While I thank my parents everyday for paying for my piano lessons, I didn't enjoy them at the time.
Times have changed! No more boring tactics. Today's kids expect a friendly lesson with game-like elements. It's possible to learn good technique, theory, and popular music pieces while getting enjoyment from the lesson. Music making helps kids in their school work, provides self-confidence and the life-long enjoyment of playing the piano.
